Milling hard and soft synthetics

  • Milling glass fibre-reinforced synthetics

    Material

This material exists in different forms. The one is a type of polyester, the other a raw material as used in electronics for printed-circuit boards. The presence of glass fibre means milling is required with diamonds. During milling much dust is also released that is statically charged.

    Applications

    • Flat parts
    • Specific components
  • Hard synthetics

    Material

By hard plastics we mean materials such as polyamide, nylon, polycarbonate, Perspex, etc. The milling parameters differ considerably depending on the material and are best determined by trial and error.

    Applications

    • Decorative articles
    • Workpieces
    • Machine parts
    • Letters and logos
  • Soft synthetics

    Material

By soft synthetics we mean materials such as polyethylene, PVC, Forex, etc. The same applies as for hard synthetics: cutting speeds and the power are best determined by trial and error.

  • Soft synthetics

    Applications

    • Decorative articles
    • Workpieces
    • Letters and logos
